The Belfast Telegraph and employment law specialists Legal-Island have announced a new partnership which will see a series of employment-focused events taking place next year.

Antrim-based Legal-Island, which focuses on employment law training, will operate a programme of up to 12 events, in tandem with the Telegraph.

Keynote dates will be a Northern Ireland Human Resources Conference, to be held in the Ramada Hotel on March 25, and the Belfast Telegraph Recruitment Conference, on May 27. The HR conference – on Building Trust for Competitive Advantage – will see the paper partner with the Great Places to Work Institute, which aims to launch a Northern Ireland workplace study.

Barry Phillips, managing director of Legal-Island, said: “A good number of our seminars have an HR or employment law theme and I know many in this industry read the Telegraph and its excellent coverage of issues relevant to the management of employees.”

Simon Mann, commercial director of the Belfast Telegraph, said: “As the leading recruitment medium in the province, we felt we should engage with recruitment professionals on a broader basis.”

"We believe that together we can bring a wider range of conferences and seminars to a wider audience."

Bob Lee, chief executive of the Great Place to Work Institute Ireland, said the 2009 Northern Ireland HR Conference would explore key employment issues.

He said the speakers at the conference would include senior representatives of McDonalds, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Google.
