When it comes to insights into the psyches of consumers, you can't get much more accurate than whether or not the population is willing to stump up a few thousand pounds on a new car.
That new car sales in Northern Ireland fell slightly last month is no surprise, what with the economic headwinds that are keeping our hands in our pockets. But the worrying factor lies in the comparison figures for other regions of the UK which have all seen double digit growth.
Take Wales, a region which has experienced new car sales jump a massive 21%.
That puts our contraction into perspective but there is hope for the near future as the strong performance by all of the other UK regions should mean we'll not be far behind.
