TV Dragon to fire up visitors at BT event

A Dragon's Den judge and entrepreneur will be the star speaker at a two-day business expo in Belfast in November.

Peter Jones will address the BT Small Business and Franchise Show at the King’s Hall in the city on November 14 and 15.

Mr Jones, whose business interests range from property to mobile phone communications, will be joined by Simon Woodroffe — also a former Dragon on the hit BBC2 show and founder of the global restaurant franchise YO! Sushi — and Brody Sweeney, the founder of O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bars.

The event has been billed by the organisers as “the most significant business event in Northern Ireland in years”. They hope to attract around 5,000 business people.

Liam O’Brien, managing director of BT Business, said the global communications was an enduring supporter of the small to medium enterprise (SME).

“It has almost become a cliché to say that small business is the backbone of any economy, but that assertion is self-evident as we all steer a course through challenging economic times,” he said.

“The show puts SMEs centre stage offering new ideas, strong advice, innovative solutions and an abundance of straight talking to help small and medium sized companies.

“At BT we are delighted to be involved and hope that Northern Ireland’s company owners, managers and would-be entrepreneurs come along and make the most of what’s on offer. The calibre of the main speakers alone sends a strong signal of how serious and compelling an event this is for businesses.”

Peter Jones will hold a question and answer session with visitors to the show and Simon Woodroffe and Brody Sweeney will host business master classes describing the twists and turns in their path to business success.
