Lenalea Electronics building new £1m factory on path to expansion

By John Mulgrew

A Co Armagh electronics business is increasing its workforce to 30 staff amid plans to invest £1m in a new factory.

Lenalea Electronics is adding five new workers as it continues its expansion.

The new facility, currently being constructed on the Fairgreen Road in Markethill, will produce circuit board assemblies for clients in sectors including quarrying, scientific research and consumer electronics.

The business, which has customers across the UK and Ireland, as well as in Europe and North America, was founded in 2000 at its current location in Markethill Business Centre.

The new expansion is being supported by Ulster Bank.

David Foster, project manager for Lenalea Electronics, said: "We have always prioritised reinvestment in the business and this current step, supported by Ulster Bank, will be a significant move forward for the company.

"It will enable our current phase of growth and provide capacity for further expansion into the future.

"We have worked closely and in partnership with Ulster Bank and are very grateful for the support and expertise that they have provided us with."

Company director Simon Pollock said: "We have asked Ulster Bank to provide significant levels of funding several times to date and each time we have found them very approachable and flexible in facilitating our requirements."

And Ulster Bank business manager Sheila Donaghy said: "Lenalea Electronics has been an Ulster Bank customer since the company was founded in 2000, and we are very pleased to have supported such an innovative business from start-up phase through to its current position as a leader in its field, with blue-chip clients here in Northern Ireland and internationally.

"The new factory will be a hi-tech facility that will enable job creation and add real value to the local economy."

Lenalea Electronics has also received support from Invest NI, towards the fit out and tooling of the new factory, which is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.

Lenalea Electronics was founded in 2000, at its current site in Markethill.

It sells products to a wide-range of industries across Northern Ireland and elsewhere.

That includes scientific research, telecommunications, data acquisition, wind-farms and refrigeration.
