Plans are underway to build around 150 apartments in south Belfast for student housing.

The joint venture between Co Down firm Lacuna Development and Welsh builder Watkin Jones is the latest in a series of major student housing projects throughout Belfast city centre.

The latest build will involve turning the former Willis insurance offices on the Dublin Road into apartments by September 2017.

Welsh builder Watkins Jones is also behind a project to convert the former Belfast Metropolitan College building at College Square East into 413-room student accommodation at the almost 110-year-old property.

And it's also planning another student development at the former Athletic Stores building.

Meanwhile, plans have also been submitted for yet another major student accommodation project on Donegall Street, boasting more than 700 rooms.
