£1.5m refurbishment plans for Belfast bars

Pub chain Botanic Inns is to spend more than £1.5m on refurbishing two of its Belfast bars - the Apartment and the Fly.

The Apartment will be extended following the acquisition of next door premises at Donegall Square West to provide two separate bars and a night club over three floors.

The Fly is to get a new bar and night club.

Stephen Magorrian, managing director of Botanic Inns, said: "With tourism in Belfast continuing to increase, growing the numbers of visitors to the city, these renovations will develop the exciting potential of two of the city's most popular venues."

Botanic Inns owns 14 outlets employing over 600 people.

The company has won a range of accolades over the last number of years including UK pub company of the year in 2003 and inclusion within the Financial Times Top 50 Workplaces 2007 and The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For 2007.
