£1m makeover for the jewel in Hastings' crown complete
Hastings Hotels has said it has finished a £1m refurbishment of its flagship Culloden Hotel outside Belfast.
The company overhauled its Mitre restaurant and refurbished bedrooms including the four original tower suites. Next it will upgrade the spa at the five-star hotel, a Mecca for celebrities visiting Belfast.
General manager Adrian McNally said: "The refurbishment is part of the ongoing investment programme that we at Hastings Hotels pride ourselves on to ensure we make the most of our properties and our people as we continue to offer our guests a first-class service every time."
Hastings Group bought the former bishop's palace in 1969 for £100,000.
The company also owns the Slieve Donard in Newcastle, the Europa and Stormont hotels in Belfast, The Everglades in Londonderry, Ballygally Castle near Larne - as well as a 50% share in Dublin's luxury Merrion Hotel. It recently bought Belfast office building Windsor House for £6.5m to convert into a hotel, to be called the Grand Central.
