Around 35 jobs are being created at a new £2.5m retail and petrol station development at Belfast International Airport.

Plans for the development have now been given the go-ahead by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough council. The Airport Road facility is scheduled to open in spring next year.

Moorefield Contracts in Dunmurry is behind the plans for a 10,500 sq ft high street retail outlet, with a sandwich bar, coffee kiosk, hot food drive-thru and a forecourt with 16 fuelling bays.

The name of the retailer has not been revealed.

Canice Mallaghan from Moorefield Contracts said the project "mirrors the confidence that's evident at the airport."

Its property manager Katrina Gilchrist said the investment would be "a big success."
