£300k guide price for hotel under the hammer

A major Co Fermanagh hotel will be offered for sale with a guide price of £300,000 at an auction in Belfast next month.

The three star Carlton Hotel in Belleek overlooking the River Erne will go under the hammer along with other commercial and residential properties.

The hotel, which closed last month with the loss of around 25 jobs, has 35 bedrooms and bar, restaurant, function and gym facilities.

Property consultants Osborne King described the hotel as a "ready-to-go business opportunity" and said Belleek was a "thriving border market town". They said the hotel was "close to" the Lough Erne Golf Resort, where the G8 Summit of world leaders will take place in June.

Osborne King were appointed to sell the property by administrators Cavanagh Kelly.

The hotel belonged to a Co Fermanagh couple who bought it in 2006. But their company Carlton Hotel Belleek was placed in administration in July.

The auction takes place on March 22 at the Holiday Inn on Belfast's Ormeau Avenue.
