50 new jobs unveiled in Sainsbury's Sprucefield expansion

Sainsbury's is creating 50 new jobs following a multi-million pound investment at its Sprucefield Park store.

Half of that number will be the retention of temporary staff who were taken on over the Christmas period.

The refurbishment will be carried out by Montgomery Limited and will employ up to 200 people on site during the main phase of the work.

The renovation is expected to be completed in early March. The store will retain its existing almost 54,000sq ft sales space with a new layout allowing for extended ranges. Sainsbury's at Sprucefield Park opened in November 2003 and is one of 13 Sainsbury's stores in Northern Ireland.

Store manager John Lockhart said: "We are delighted to be creating a number of new jobs and retaining many of the colleagues who joined us for Christmas as well as creating a fantastic new shopping experience for customers."
