80 job seekers battling it out for every vacancy

Almost 80 unemployed people are chasing every job vacancy in parts of Britain, new research has shown.

Aberdeen was the best city to find a job in, with around one un claimant per vacancy, compared with around 80 in Hull, said job search website Adzuna.

Reading, Cambridge and London all had fewer than two claimants per vacancy. Other areas with high ratios included Stoke-on-Trent (73), Sunderland (53), Southend (44) and The Wirral (40).
