A fifty-strong group of American business leaders is flying into Belfast later this month for a two-day networking trip.

The technology company bosses, from Kansas City, will meet Northern Ireland entrepreneurs at a series of events organised by Catalyst Inc Connect and its US partner, Pipeline. The contingent includes established multinational firms working in biosciences, cyber security, web services and software - all growth areas for the Northern Ireland economy.

"Business is all about who you know," said Steve Orr, director of Connect. "Our ability to forge entrepreneurial connections from Northern Ireland to the rest of the world is second-to-none." One of the visiting US executives is Jeff Hargroves, president of the ProPharma Group. He said: "Ireland is known for its strength in pharmaceuticals and biotech, and is an ideal location for my company to expand our European operations.

"These business interactions could not be more timely for me and other Pipeline members."
