Animation firm in the Lolly after new contract

A Corporate animation firm has won a major contract with a Scottish company after the downturn in construction forced it to look for work in new places.

Big Lolly in Belfast said the work it had secured with building company Howden Glasgow had the potential to secure repeat business. The firm worked with the construction sector in providing visualisation and animation, but faced with the continued shrinking of the sector in Northern Ireland it went to Invest NI for help with getting business from elsewhere.

An Invest NI mentor helped the company produce a marketing strategy and action plan to identify firm leads.

The plan included targeting construction firms in export markets and looking at the potential of sectors like industrial engineering, renewables and marine engineering.

Keith McClure, managing director of Big Lolly, said: "The market insights and mentoring that we got from Invest NI allowed us to develop a strategy for targeting new customers in a systematic way."

Big Lolly employs five staff producing walk-through animations, films and photo-realistic images.
