Banks slammed over bad advice

One in four consumers received poor advice on how to invest nest eggs by high street banks and building societies, the Financial Services Authority found.

 It carried out 231 mystery shops last year to discover the quality of advice given to customers. In 15% of cases the adviser did not gather enough information to give good advice.
