Belfast cookbook finishes third at international awards show in China
A Belfast cookbook has been recognised in a top international awards show.
Belfast on a Plate is the brainchild of photographer David Pauley and Joanna Braniff. It features recipes from 20 Belfast restaurants, including Deanes and Ox.
He was among seven writers in the running for an award at the Gourmand International Cookbook awards in China.
But while missing out on the top spot, the book picked up third place in the 'photographer/publisher' category, having been up against authors from France, Spain and the US.
David was joined in China alongside partner Cheryl Johnston, who also worked on the book.
His book was launched in September last year, and he says it has "been well received".
Recipes include asparagus, egg yolk, nettles and oyster mushroom, from head chef and co-owner of Belfast's Michelin-starred Ox, Stevie Toman.
It also includes dishes from former Ox chef, Gareth McCaughey. He opened up the Muddlers Club in 2015.
His recipes include salt-aged rib-eye of beef, bone marrow gratin and smoked chilli butter.
