An established Belfast estate agent has sold his sales and letting business.

Philip Johnston's Upper Newtownards Road branch has been bought by Betty Beverland who plans to rebrand the company but keep the name Johnston.

"We wish Philip well in his new ventures and will build on the excellent service that he and the team have provided for thousands of vendors and purchasers down the years," Ms Beverland said.

"It's very much business as usual, with the same staff who collectively have more than 100 years' experience within east Belfast and north Down and will continue to provide a seamless and professional service."

Reporting business had increased over the last quarter, she added: "We've witnessed almost a 20% rise in the number of houses sold in the last three months compared to this time last year."
