A new version of an online retail technology package already in charge of transactions worth almost £1bn has just been launched.

Belfast firm Export Technologies has invested around £1m upgrading its International Retail Platform (IRP), an e-commerce platform to build online sales.

It was released in 2004 for retailers, distributors and manufacturers to sell via the internet.

The package combines traffic generation with conversion, by handling the languages, currencies and localised markets in a systematic and successful way.

Its newest generation includes the current software, as well as updates to make the process simpler to help grow sales online.

William Bailie, head of development at Export Technologies at the Northern Ireland Science Park, said it had been successful, but added that "all technology needs updated and this next generation will catapult our customers on to a truly global stage".

He described its potential as "huge" and predicted "triple digit growth over 18 months".
