Apprentices who studied at Belfast Metropolitan College have been recognised at a special ceremony.

Nearly 50 students in fields from hairdressing and financial services to catering and construction were praised for their commitment and dedication to learning at the event. Their employers were also congratulated, with winners including restaurant James Street South, engineering firm Metalcraft and hairdresser Andrew Mulvenna.

Marie-Therese McGivern, CEO at Belfast Met, said: "I congratulate each of our student finalists, and particularly those winners, who have worked so hard to reach their goals and take the next step in attaining a job within their chosen industry."

Employment Minister Stephen Farry said the success reflected the high standard of teaching at Northern Ireland colleges.
