Belfast software company creates 100 jobs in Massachusetts

By Clare Weir

Over 100 new jobs will be created during the next three years due to the expansion of a Belfast-based software firm.

TotalMobile - a subsidiary of Consilium Technologies - specialises in products which help companies increase the productivity of their remote staff. The firm will expand international operations and the new jobs will be based at its North American headquarters in Massachusetts.

TotalMobile, which has one of the fastest growing public sector customer bases in the UK, first broke into the North American market in 2008. This year the firm increased its Northern Ireland-based staff by 10% to a total of 90.

Colin Reid, chief executive of TotalMobile, said the decision was a vote of confidence in Northern Irish business.

"We have always felt that the expertise and dedication of our staff here made us a serious player on the global stage," he said. "The kind of long-term partnerships we've built up will continue to create jobs and opportunities for skilled people right here in Northern Ireland."

The company intends to grow staff numbers over the next year to support planned expansion in the UK and North America.
