TWO brothers from Co Down have been disqualified from being business directors for unfit conduct including withholding £410,000 from the taxman.

John McKenzie Taylor (51) of Tamnaharry Hill in Mayobridge was disqualified for seven years and George Christopher Taylor (53) of Springfield Road in Warrenpoint for eight years.

Their domestic property maintenance firm Taylor Civil Engineering went into liquidation in November 2010 owing £711,542.

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment found that the pair continued to trade from November 2007 to June 2010 knowing the company was insolvent and unable to pay its debts.

The company did not operate a bank account from November 2008 to June 2012 and failed to provide the Official Receiver with company bank account details.

The pair did not dispute the allegations while George Taylor also accepted that he had submitted an incorrect statement of affairs.
