A business support network company is set to open up in Belfast.

Entrepreneur John Nelligan has bought the rights to the Business Doctors franchise for Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Business Doctors is a support network for SME owners that was set up in the UK by franchisors Rod Davies and Matt Levington 12 years ago.

Mr Nelligan intends to launch three outlets across Ireland each year for the next seven years. The Kerry native has earmarked Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick as the main territories to open outlets.

His move for Business Doctors follows the acquisition of main street garment franchise The Zip Yard. Mr Nelligan said he has gained enough experience in franchising to make Business Doctors a success here.

"When I read about Business Doctors, their holistic approach to small business support really struck a chord. This is a business I really believe in and one that Ireland's 200,000 SMEs are crying out for," he said.
