A Moira butcher has won a UK-wide award for its speciality pork product.
Hannan Meats has been named as supreme champion in the final of UK Great Taste Awards.
The company gained the accolade for its Italian-style Moyallon Guanciale in the overall awards announced by the UK Guild of Fine Food at a gala event in London.
Moyallon Guanciale is an unsmoked pork jowl - a cheek dry cured with a blend of herbs, sugar, peppers and spices, garlic and red wine for Italian meals, prepared using Europe's only salt chamber comprising salt blocks from the Himalayas.
The product is already attracting the interest of top restaurateurs and chefs.
This is the second year running the award has been won by a firm in Moira after McCartney's Butchers was named 2011 supreme champion.
