The Belfast businessman behind well-known cafe chain The Streat will be sharing his experiences with an audience of entrepreneurs at Ulster University later this week.

Michael McQuillan co-founded the franchise with his wife Nikki and the couple opened their first cafe in Belfast in 1999.

The business expanded rapidly and was purchased by the Henderson Group in 2010.

Michael then set up McQuillan Associates, a business growth consultancy supporting the SME sector in NI. He was appointed a visiting professor at the Ulster Business School in 2010 and director of Ulster University's Business Institute in 2014.

Mr McQuillan will deliver a workshop for NISP Connect, the Science Park's non-profit organisation set up to support early stage technology companies.

The event, at Ulster University's York Street campus on Thursday lunchtime, is aimed at innovative entrepreneurs and "wantrepreneurs" and will cover how to build a start-up team of partners, advisers and employees.

Tickets are free. For more information and registration,
