Call for more women in science and engineering roles
More women need to be encouraged into science, maths, engineering and technology careers, a new report has said.
Northern Ireland's 'STEM Champion' Dr Joanne Stuart said that the document, called 'Addressing Gender Balance – Reaping the Gender Dividend in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths' offers practical guidelines, case studies from local employers and a new charter for employers.
The report was launched at an engineering careers event in Our Lady and St Patrick's College in Knock.
Julie Templeton of Atkins, the large civil engineering company, and a former pupil of Our Lady and St Patrick's, also spoke about her training and career as a civil engineer at the event.
