More than 100 car dealers have taken part in a conference organised by the used vehicle website Used Cars NI.

The event, in Templepatrick, dealt with the criminal and civil implications of failing to comply with consumer rights legislation, as well as the regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority.

The conference also examined the fast-growing digital marketplace for used cars.

“In our dialogue with dealers, it has become increasingly clear that while they are aware and have largely responded to FCA regulation, they are seeking more guidance on this and the Consumer Rights Act,” said Cecil Hetherington, managing director of Used Cars NI.

“We developed the first ever Northern Ireland dealer conference to give them practical guidance on how to both comply with and benefit from these changes.”
