Chamber honours 'visionary' Bill Wolsey
Hotel and pub tycoon Bill Wolsey has been recognised by the industry he has dominated for decades.
The entrepreneur and owner of the award-winning Merchant Hotel as been honoured with the President's Recognition Award from the Belfast Chamber of Trade and Commerce, for services to the hospitality and tourism industry in Northern Ireland.
Bill Wolsey, originally from north Belfast, opened his first bar, The Sportsman's Inn in Bangor, over 35 years ago. Today he owns 40 pubs, three hotels and five Little Wing restaurants.
Chamber president Paul McMahon described Mr Wolsey as "a visionary and calculated risk-taker whose numerous ventures have paid off not only for the Beannchor Group, but for all of Belfast and beyond".
Mr Wolsey, said the award "recognises the amount of work, and investment and jobs the Beannchor Group has brought to the city".
