Closure of Coca-Cola plant angers union chiefs

Union leaders have attacked drinks giant Coca-Cola Enterprises for announcing the closure of its Malvern Water plant on the same day as the Government's comprehensive spending review.

Unite said the news was "badly handled" by the company yesterday and showed no respect for a loyal workforce.

Around 17 workers will lose their jobs when the plant closes in two weeks' time.

Unite said staff were treated "disgracefully".
