Co Antrim dental firm raises a smile with castle grounds move

By John Mulgrew

A Co Antrim dental firm is creating 10 new jobs as it sets up in the picturesque grounds of a 17th century castle.

Galgorm Dental will open in the grounds of Galgorm Castle outside Ballymena this month.

The business - which has been set up by Chris Gocher, Alan Crockett and Dougie Thom - now employs five staff.

But that's due to double as the firm expands.

The regal expansion been created thanks to £250,000 investment with support from Ulster Bank.

One of the firm's founders, Mr Gocher, said it "identified a gap in the market for a high-end family and cosmetic dental practice in the area. We have invested significantly in the grounds of Galgorm Castle to create a modern facility, with the aim of providing exceptional service," he said.

He added: "Initially, we will have three dentists and two support staff working at the practice, but we have space in the new premises for a further two surgeries, which we plan to utilise as the business grows. This would enable us to create a further two dentist posts, plus support staff."

Terry Robb, Ulster Bank's head of north business centre, said the team behind the venture "have a fantastic setting in Galgorm Castle and extremely well-finished premises".
