Co Tyrone electricals firm JJ Loughran is creating nearly 40 new jobs in a £2.2m investment.

As well as taking on 37 staff, the family-run Cookstown business is investing in new equipment and marketing as it targets sectors including agri-food, renewables and pharmaceuticals.

The firm specialises in electrical and mechanical engineering in sectors including water, sewerage and quarrying.

Nine of the jobs have been filled already, and the other 28 will pay an average of around £24,000.

Invest NI has offered around £281,000 towards the investment by JJ Loughran.

Joint managing director Kevin Loughran said: "We will be introducing innovative production and repair methods as part of efforts to boost our competitiveness."
