Company in running for multi-million pound water contracts
A CO Down company has broken into the English water sector after it was selected as a preferred contractor for a major water company.
Graham Construction has opened an office in Sunderland after it was selected by Northumbrian Water for its £1.5bn investment programme.
Preferred contractor status could enable it to bid for millions of pounds worth of work.
The Hillsborough-based company is one of 19 contractors and consultants appointed to bid for work for Northumbrian Water.
The appointment is initially for four years, with an option to extend to 10 years, and covers Northumbrian Water's operating areas in the North East of England and in Essex and Suffolk.
Graham Construction has been appointed for construction on capital works and infrastructure projects.
A spokeswoman for Graham Construction said the projects would be mainly wastewater infrastructure schemes such as combined sewer overflows, sewer flooding and new development works. But there will also be some water infrastructure works such as strategic mains and diversions involved.
