Cookstown firm lands deal to build second hotel in London
A Cookstown construction company has won a tender to build a new compact hotel in the heart of London's trendy east end.
McAleer & Rushe was appointed by development firm Endurance Land to construct a 189-bedroom Premier Inn on Brick Lane in Spitalfields.
The "hub by Premier Inn" hotel will be the second contract which the construction firm is working on for the hotel chain's parent Whitbread Group.
In September of last year, the company began work on the first of the new concept, a 163-bedroom hotel on St Martin's Lane in London which is now being converted from an existing office building.
The 'hub by Premier Inn' features compact rooms at only 11.4 square metres where "every centimetre is optimised with a desk that folds into the Hypnos pocket-sprung bed, luggage storage under the bed".
The Endurance Land hotel scheme, which is designed by EPR architects, involves the demolition of an existing supermarket and the construction of a 189-bedroom hotel with ground floor retail.
McAleer & Rushe is also currently working for Endurance Land building a 291-bedroom, 17-storey Motel One at Minories on the edge of London,
This is where archaeologists discovered a 1,900-year-old Roman eagle sculpture.
