The chief executive of Northern Ireland offender technology company Core Systems has won a UK-wide entrepreneur of the year award.

Patricia O'Hagan triumphed in the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the FDM Everywoman in Technology Awards.

The 2015 FDM Everywoman in Technology Awards are held to champion the advancement of women in technology and Stem careers.

Ms O'Hagan joined the north Belfast firm in 2005 and has led the company into major growth in international markets.

Core Systems specialises in offender-focused technology for prisoners and ex-prisoners in high-security facilities and in the community.

Its systems help prisoners access information and educate themselves, therefore helping their rehabilitation.

Their chief executive is also a member of the Economic Advisory Group (EAG) and was awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List in 2013 for her services to the economy.
