Defence giant to slash 1,300 jobs

DEFENCE giant BAE Systems has delivered a pre-Christmas jobs blow by announcing cuts of up to 1,35 posts. The move follows the Government's defence review and its decision to scrap the Nimrod and Harrier jets. The job losses will hit a number of sites, including BAE's Woodford plant outside Stockport, where 7 jobs will go, with another 65 to be cut at other BAE sites.
