Derry firm has deal for star’s home sewn up
A soft furnishings business, run from a converted Londonderry garage by a mother and daughter, is enjoying cross-border success and celebrity endorsement just a year after being established.
Grace Joseph Interiors has established a wide customer base, and one feather in its cap is the contract it won to provide a fit-out of singer Daniel O'Donnell's house in Burtonport, Co Donegal.
The business was the brainchild of Claire Heaney (31) who approached her mother Sally (59) last year with the idea of setting up a home-based company that would allow her to pass on her design and sewing skills, as well as utilising Claire’s own experience in business advice. Ms Heaney said: “My mother has been doing this all her life and once had her own business, called Sew and Sew.”
Order books are filling up but with the economy on both sides of the border being squeezed, the fledgling company is proceeding sensibly.
