Diet Express signs deal to keep people of Dubai fit

A BELFAST health firm is teaming up with a global giant in Dubai to help fitness fans.

Diet Express, which employs three people in Bruce Street, is linking with Fitness First in the United Arab Emirates to promote weight loss, diet control and the management of diabetes and other potentially life-threatening conditions.

The company took part in a recent Invest NI mission to the region and has now secured a contract to develop a bespoke programme for its new client.

The deal was announced by Chris Donaldson, Diet Express managing director, who said that many people in Dubai have trouble controlling their weight, due to the difficulties of exercising in such a hot climate and the popularity of sugary foods and beverages.

"Our focus is on healthy eating via a low glucose diet with an associated exercise programme for more effective weight loss and ongoing weight management," he said.

"It also involves setting realistic goals with motivational and psychological features.

"They were impressed by our ability to develop a tailored approach to the specific needs of their clients.

"We followed up the lead and secured what is now proving to be extremely important export business for us."
