Digital marketing conference to connect with companies

BY AMANDA FERGUSON

The 2013 Digi-talk conference will be held at the Stormont Hotel on September 26.

The inaugural event, organised by Hastings Hotels and the Ulster Business School at the University of Ulster, aims to help Northern Ireland businesses and students find out more about the growing realm of digital marketing.

Journalist, broadcaster and author Conor Pope, content marketing and digital expert Krishna De and Gareth Walls from law firm A&L Goodbody will discuss digital marketing strategy, the adoption of tactics and the legal implications of social media.

Julie Hastings, marketing director for Hastings Hotels, said: "For businesses, social media represents both opportunity and risk because on the one hand, it provides companies with a platform to connect directly with customers and shape their perceptions; however on the other hand it can also tarnish reputations, which is why it is vital that a company employs a clear digital marketing strategy."

Una McMahon Beattie from the Ulster Business School said it was delighted to be partnering with Hastings Hotels to bring the conference to the business and academic community.

"People are consuming more and more digital content on a daily basis and this conference will provide companies an opportunity to recognise that digital offers just as much potential to marketers as it does to consumers," she added.
