A major investment in research and development has helped a Belfast engineering company to launch an innovative new product.

Dunmurry-based Brookvent has introduced aircycle 3.1, a heat recovery ventilation system.

Brookvent has been manufacturing and supplying energy-saving ventilation products for the residential sector since 1984. Exports account for more than 35% of sales and the company has major contracts in Eastern Europe, serviced from its office in Poland.

The new product was developed with £675,000 from the Growth Loan Fund, a £50m fund provided by Invest NI and the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers' Superannuation Committee (NILGOSC). In addition, Invest NI gave the company a grant of almost £50,000.

Managing director Declan Gormley said the company's innovative approach was helping it to win business against global competitors.
