Christmas is coming and food businesses all around Northern Ireland are getting ready for rocketing demand from customers.

Turkey farmers are tending to their flock - and bakeries like the Heatherlea in Main Street, Bangor are baking mince pies as fast as their customers can buy them.

Heatherlea started out as a bakery but the popularity of its produce grew, and it now also supplies independent retailers with a wholesale range.

And at this time of year, Paul Getty is producing as many mince pies as he can.

Today, to celebrate the efforts of food firms like Heatherlea, we are launching a weekly series focusing on Northern Ireland food and drink.
