Budget airline easyJet has announced two new routes from Belfast International to ski gateway Lyon in France and sun destination Arrecife, Lanzarote.

The new year-round Arrecife route starts in November and operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays on an A320 aircraft.

EasyJet said it expects to carry around 11,000 passengers on the new route in the first winter of operation. Fares start from £23.49 per person one way.

Lyon is a winter service operating once a week on Saturdays on an A319 aircraft from December to March. EasyJet said it believed the new route would be particularly popular with skiers. It said it expects to carry around 4,500 passengers on the new route in the first winter. Fares start from £21.49 per person one way.

Ali Gayward, easyJet's head of Northern Ireland, said: "We are pleased to announce these two new routes. Their addition underlines our commitment to the Northern Ireland market."
