EasyJet launches new daily Birmingham route

Easyjet has launched a new route to Birmingham, bringing the carrier's total of destinations from Belfast International Airport to 23.

The first flight will take off from October 22 as a daily service, and from October 29 the service will increase to two flights a day on weekdays - and one on Saturdays and Sundays.

Flights to Birmingham will go on sale at easyJet.com this week, with fares starting from £22.99 for a one way ticket and £45.98 for a return fare including taxes.

The carrier's 23 destinations from Belfast are the highest number it has operated from the city.

Ali Gayward, easyJet commercial manager, said that the new route demonstrated its commitment to the Northern Ireland travelling public - and reflected growing demand for business travel to and from Belfast.

"This route represents a major milestone in our network growth which sees easyJet operating year round from Birmingham for the first time ever."

John Doran, managing director of Belfast International Airport, added: "Birmingham was an obvious gap on the boards, as evidenced by the level of demand we received for its reinstatement."
