Energy firm to create 50 new posts

An electricity supplier is to create 50 new jobs after securing a £1m loan.

Budget Energy plans to use the working capital to double its workforce over the next five years and will grow its customer base to 100,000 from 40,000 currently.

The finance comes from Invest NI's £50m Growth Loan Fund which is administered by WhiteRock Capital Partners.

"We employ over 60 people in Northern Ireland, some through the 'Strive to Work' and 'GAP' schemes, and we are committed to continuing to grow the business," said chief executive of Budget Energy, Eleanor McEvoy.

Mark Canning, senior investment manager at WhiteRock Capital Partners LLP, said the funding marks a landmark for the administrators.
