Energy Minister's visit puts wind in the sails of renewables sector

Charles Hendry MP, Minister of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, was in Belfast earlier this week to meet key players from Northern Ireland's emerging renewables sector.

The visit included a roundtable meeting at Belfast Harbour with leading figures from business and academia to discuss barriers to investment and green skills. The minister also toured construction work at Belfast Harbour's new 50-acre, £50m D1 Offshore Wind Terminal. The minister called it an "an outstanding facility which will help attract investment and a fast roll-out of the offshore wind programme". The minister also visited Harland -amp; Wolff and met Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) Minister Arlene Foster, primarily to discuss the Electricity Market Reform (EMR) programme.
