Enterprising boost for Lisburn firm

A Lisburn company which services some of Northern Ireland's leading manufacturing firms has become the UK's official distributor for a German firm's specialist conveying systems.

Texam, a leader in the design, manufacture and installation of conveyor systems, found Leipzig company MSF Vathauer through the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) database when it decided the time was right to expand its market abroad. The Co Down company's customers include all of Northern Ireland's leading manufacturing companies as well as airports, ferry terminals, warehouse and distribution companies. It also exports to the US, Africa, and most recently, Saudi Arabia.

John McGuigan, Texam managing director, said he found the German company after trawling through the EEN list. "EEN certainly worked well and quickly for us, enabling us to introduce new products to our markets fast."

Mr McGuigan paid tribute to Invest NI for its assistance in helping to furnish the company with information on the Germany firm, which enabled the deal to be sealed within a month.

Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI's trade director, said the free service "provides a very useful platform for Northern Ireland companies".
