Ex-M&S clothing boss quits Asos after only seven months
Former Marks & Spencer clothing supremo Kate Bostock has quit online fashion giant Asos just seven months after joining.
She has resigned as head of product and trading and stepped down from the board, saying: "Sadly, I've concluded that Asos isn't the right place for me".
Her exit is an embarrassment for the online specialist, which ships clothing to 241 countries, and is a blow to the career of one of the most powerful women in UK fashion retail. Market sources pointed to Asos being a very different company to M&S as it is a pure-play online retailer with a much younger customer base.
Asos chief executive Nick Robertson said: "Kate and I have agreed that Asos is not the right platform for her talent. Of course, we are disappointed that things have not worked out."
Bostock left as executive director of general merchandise in October after eight years at M&S.
She had previously been the product director for Asda's George brand, and before that had run the childrenswear arm of Next.
