Fairtrade tea snapped up by Wessanen

Clipper, which generates £16m-a-year from the sale of organic and Fairtrade tea and coffee, has been snapped up by a leading health brand.

The Dorset business - started in 1984 by husband and wife Mike and Lorraine Brehme with two chests of Assam tea - is to be integrated into the UK business of Wessanen, best known for organic brands Kallo and Whole Earth.

The value of yesterday's deal has not been disclosed.
