A Ballymena butchery has proved it is 'top of the chops' by winning the main prize at a ceremony in London.
K&G McAtamney scooped the major accolade at the Butcher Shop of the Year Awards 2013, held recently at the Plaisterers' Hall in the city.
The awards recognise and reward top butchers for their excellence in all elements of butchery craft.
The family-run business was presented with the Northern Ireland award for the second year running, before being crowned National Butcher Shop of the Year, beating off competition from over 18 shortlisted entrants from across the UK.
Founded by father and son team, Kieran and Gordon McAtamney, K&G McAtamney Butchery & Deli has been trading since 2000 and boasts a strong family heritage in the industry, dating back to 1953.
The Ballymena-based outlet has over 60 employees and also retails and distributes foods to over 120 hotels, restaurants and butcher shops across Northern Ireland. It also has counters in Robinson's CostCutter, Ballymena and McKillops Euro Spar, Cushendall and supplies 300 Spar stores across Northern Ireland.
Gordon McAtamney said he was thrilled to win the award.
"It's great that all the hard work the dedicated and talented team at K&G McAtamney's do has been recognised at such a high level," he said.
"We are incredibly passionate about our craft and constantly strive to offer our customers the best possible products."
