Financial mayor in appeal for closer links
The mayor of London's financial district has said Belfast should build closer links with the capital.
Lord Mayor Jeffery Mountevans visits Belfast today in the first of a series of regional visits since he was appointed to the apolitical post earlier this year.
Mr Mountevans said: "I'm delighted that my first regional visit this year will be to Belfast. It's a strategically important regional centre for the UK and the financial and professional services community play a key part in its success.
"Over 31,000 jobs are supported by the financial and professional services sector, providing £2bn of regional GVA and 4.5% of regional employment.
"I hope that my visit will help build the ties that can underscore growth in both our regions. Success for Belfast is success for London, too."
