Firm delighted by Square renovation
A construction firm has just completed the redevelopment of one of London's most historic and iconic tourist locations - Leicester Square.
SIAC construction, which has offices on the Boucher Road in Belfast, has renovated the square, finishing the project on time and on budget.
The company's senior management team relocated to London to work on the contract which took over a year.
SIAC chairman Ronnie Foreman said while working there he realised how popular the destination is and thanked his team for their great work.
He said: "This was a complex, difficult contract with unique challenges but I am delighted to say it was finished on time. Almost half a million people walk through the square on a daily basis so you can imagine some of the issues involving moving machinery and equipment.
"Getting the job done on time was a great achievement and I can't speak highly enough of the team."
SIAC communications officer Kate Stafford was responsible for liaising with over 100 businesses in Leicester Square including the famous Empire and Odeon Cinemas.
"It was certainly a challenge at times. There were 22 major film premieres during our time and it was fascinating to see some of the world's biggest stars," she said.
"Getting it all ready in time was a great achievement, especially in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics."
