A Dunmurry company has won new business in China after visiting the region on a trade mission last year.

Brookvent will supply £50,000 worth of window vents for a new apartment block in Shanghai.

"This is an immensely encouraging and exciting contract in a vast marketplace that, we believe, offers substantial opportunities for our window ventilation and heat recovery systems," Declan Gormley, Brookvent managing director, said.

"What helped us to secure a platform for growth in China is our commitment to innovation, now at the forefront of all our business processes. We have invested heavily in R&D to develop new manufacturing processes and specialist products that improve air quality and the energy efficiency of dwellings."

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: "The new business shows that smaller businesses in industries such as building products can be successful there by investing the necessary time and other resources to research the market, identify potential customers and follow up leads."
