Food firm serves up trade treat in Dubai

One of Northern Ireland's favourite side-dishes is making mouths water in Dubai after a food manufacturer won its first business in the Arab state.

Champ from Mash Direct in Co Down will be sold at high-end supermarket Spinneys in Dubai after a successful introduction at at the SIAL food exhibition in Paris last October.

Martin Hamilton, managing director of the Comber food firm, said: "The contract with Spinneys gives us an important presence with one of the most quality conscious and consumer focused supermarket chains in the Emirates and wider Middle East.

He said that making links with Spinneys had demonstrated the importance to Northern Ireland food firms of attending such events. "These provide opportunities to meet key food buyers. We'll be working closely with Spinneys to build on our first business with them and to see how we can develop further opportunities throughout the Middle East," said Mr Hamilton.
